Join our partners Initiate Justice on April 22, 2020 for another #WebinarWednesday where we will be discussing Ending Extreme Sentencing!
This week we will be meeting with Adnan Khan, the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Re:Store Justice. While incarcerated he Co-Founded the organization Re:Store Justice and worked on the felony murder rule legislation, Senate Bill 1437. The bill passed in August 2018 and on January, 18th 2019, Adnan was the first person re-sentenced under the bill he helped create. He now works in collaboration with survivors of crime, currently and formerly incarcerated people, and other stakeholders to move towards restorative practices.
The hosts for this webinar are our very own, Zakiya Prince and Monica Negron! Both hosts are graduates and now facilitators, of our Institute of Impacted Leaders. Zakiya is a mother and advocate for her husband inside, who is serving an extreme sentence of 35 years to life. Monica is an advocate for those who have no voice, a warrior in the fight to end Mass Incarceration. She also is an advocate for her husband inside.
Together, they will lead this discussion with Adnan, on the topic of Ending Extreme Sentencing and why it is so necessary for California and the movement for abolition.
Join us WEDNESDAY, April 22, 2020 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM. This webinar will be hosted via ZOOM.
